This month we spotlight photographer Wai Lin from Yangon, Myanmar, who started shooting weddings professionally in 2013 under the studio name Love Diary Wedding Professional. Pre-wedding coverage is also a big part of the services his studio offers.

“My style of shooting is the fusion of landmark, landscape, fashion and cultural influences of specific locations,” say Wai Lin, who, if not a photographer, would have been a filmmaker or musician.

While he does draw inspiration from a number of favorite photographers, Lin is most influenced, he says, by Jerry Ghionis, Johnson Wee and Sails Chong. “All three of them have their own unique styles: Jerry is able to work under any kind of location or lighting situation and yield incredible results; Johnson’s images are very artistic and often look like paintings; and Sails is a one-of-a-kind photographer who uses strobes very gracefully. His exceptional use of lighting and very fashionable bridal photo shoots are the types of images that keep me going and keep me creative.”

In this image, Lin created “a very beautiful tunnel of lights showcasing the beautiful pottery that is featured. I love the way the bride’s dress gives the feeling of movement. I used a blue gel to greater enhance the blue daylight coming from the end of the tunnel. I used a CTO gel for the main light, to match the color of the candles. For me, the blue and orange combination here is also one of the eye-catchers in this image.”
