Profoto Launches B10 Plus

June 5, 2019

Profoto’s newest battery-powered monolight builds off 2018’s B10 by adding a bit more size and a lot more power.

The B10 Plus delivers 500 W/s of flash output (twice the power of the B10) using the same battery as the B10. As a result, the B10 Plus has half the battery life–200 flashes at full power.

The B10 Plus is a tad heavier than the B10, at 4.2 pounds vs. 3.3 pounds. It’s also 3 inches longer and about $400 more expensive. Other than that, the two strobes are essentially identical.

Like the B10, the B10 Plus is adjustable over a 10-stop range with a recycling time of .05-2 sec. It supports both AirTTL and HSS and incorporates an LED modeling light that pumps out 2500 lumens and is dimmable from 10-100 percent with a CRI between 90-96.

The B10 Plus has Bluetooth and works with the Profoto app for remote control.

It is available for pre-order now for $2,095.

What’s interesting about the B10 Plus is that it’s not all that different from the B1X. The later is a bit faster in terms of recycling time and has a longer battery life but is also 3 inches longer than the B10 Plus and nearly 2.5 pounds heavier. The B1X also lacks the B10/Plus’s Bluetooth radio and high-quality LED modeling light.
