When our sister publication PDN interviewed LensRentals CEO and all around optical guru Roger Cicala about prime lenses, he told them that any model in the Otus family were among his favorites.
Now that family is growing with the addition of a 100mm f/1.4 prime lens for Canon and Nikon full-frame DSLRs.
The manual focus lens uses an apochromat design to reduce chromatic aberration and color artifacting and fringing. It’s capable of focusing on objects as close as 39.4 inches with a magnification ratio of 1:8.6. The focus ring turns a full 315 degrees.
You can stop the Otus 100mm down to f/16.
Like other members of the family, the 100mm is a hefty lens. The Canon version weighs in at 3.1 pounds while the Nikon edition is 2.95 pounds. It’s available this month for $4,990.
