Venus Optics just announced the Laowa Argus 45mm f/0.95, the second full-frame lens in its Argus lineup (the first was the Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 announced back in September and promoted as “the world’s fastest full-frame lens.”) The company describes the new lens as “an exceptional standard lens offering a field of view that is more appealing and natural to human eyes. With the super shallow depth of field at f/0.95, it easily creates a dreamy and romantic rendering.”

The lens consisting of 1 Aspherical Lens,1 ED glass and 3 UHR glass offers remarkable sharpness while wide open and apparently allows your subject to stand out from a “creamy bokeh background.” The company also says photographers using the new lens that has a 51.3-inch angle of view, can create crystal-clear images in difficult lighting situations with much lower ISOs.

The manual-focus lens has a design featuring 13 elements in 9 groups, including 1 aspherical lens, 1 extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element, and 3 ultra-high refractive (UHR) elements. The 15-blade aperture delivers smooth bokeh in out-of-focus areas of the frame.

Together, says the company, these features make this lens an ideal optic for shooting video.

The Laowa Argus 45mm f/0.95 FF is currently available to purchase via Venus Optics website and authorized resellers.
