Fujifilm X30
A taste of classic camera merges with the latest technology in Fuji’s newest advanced compact camera. But it’s not only the design that brings you a little taste of 35mm photography; the camera has two control rings and an assortment of film simulation options, including a new Chrome setting. A number of new features, including a tiltable LCD and better performance, also add to this camera’s appeal. Pick up the optional leather case to complete the traditional look.

Sigma dp2 Quattro
Unique in its design (and use of a Foveon sensor), the TIPA award-winning dp2 Quattro is the first in a new series of cameras, with the dp1 and dp3 to follow, each sporting a different focal length lens. The dp2 is equipped with a 30mm f/2.8 lens and the latest Foveon X3 sensor that combines a trio of layers to create the equivalent of a 39-megapixel image, for those who like to count pixels.

EDITOR’S PICK: Sony RX100 III
Designed for photographers who don’t want to compromise features or image quality when shopping for a pocket camera, the RX100 III offers many of the bells and whistles that photographers want. A sharp and fast wide-angle Zeiss lens further bolsters this camera’s already excellent reputation among pros and enthusiasts. About the only thing you’ll give up is its predecessor’s multi-interface shoe, but that’s a small price to pay to make room for an outstanding pop-up EVF.

Sony Cyber-shot QX1/QX30
Designed to marry the connectivity of smartphones with the power of larger sensors and better lenses, Sony’s lens cameras have entered their second generation with a host of new tricks.

The versatile QX1, which is built around an APS-C size sensor, now accepts any E-mount lens.

The new QX30, on the other hand, is all about its 30x zoom. The zoom model is also fast, capturing up to 10fps.
Prices: $350 (QX30); $400 (QX1)

Canon PowerShot G7 X
The latest addition to Canon’s PowerShot G-series line was announced at Photokina in September and will be available this month. The 20-megapixel G7 X takes its place in between the G1 X Mark II and the S120 and is the first PowerShot to feature a 1-inch sensor. Selfie-lovers will appreciate the 180-degree flip-up, 3-inch touchscreen LCD, while those who like the more traditional approach to adjusting aperture or shutter speed should dig the customizable control ring. Manual movie controls, Wi-Fi, NFC and a number of creative options are only some of the G7 X’s notable features.
