Elinchrom’s ONE is its First Battery-Powered Monolight
August 13, 2021
Elinchrom is no stranger to portable lighting, most notably the company’s petite and lightweight ELB 500 TTL and its equally portable battery pack. But now the company has taken portability a step further with the Elinchrom ONE battery-powered monolight.

This new off camera flash (OCF) weighs only 3.3 pounds and has a footprint that’s about the same size as a 70-200mm lens. The Elinchrom ONE battery-powered monolight fits neatly into most cases and camera bags and it won’t weigh you down when you’re shooting on location. Thanks to its compact size and lightweight, the Elinchrom ONE won’t strain the muscles of an assistant holding the light aloft for long period of time when a light stand is not an option. If you’re shooting on the streets of a big city where tripods and light stands are often prohibited (without a permit), the Elinchrom ONE and a boom arm or extension pole allows you to pick up and move quickly.

Adding to its portability is the flash’s USB-C charging. Better yet, is the Elinchrom ONE’s active charging so you can keep shooting while the battery is charging. Elinchrom says that the flash can be charged from “any USB-C source,” so you may already have a small power pack or two to keep the ONE charged on the go.

In addition to active charging via USB-C, solid specs of this 131Ws OCF include the ability to capture up to 725 full power flashes on a single charge with a recycle time of 0.9 seconds (at full power). TTL with a manual lock allows you to tweak an exposure in manual while keeping your TTL settings and the ONE’s high speed sync capabilities (up to 1/8000th sec) is perfect for stopping athletes and dancers in action. It also allows you to overpower bright sunlight when you need to.
Color temperature of its bicolor modeling lamp can be adjusted from 2700K to 6500K. A touch screen interface makes it easy (and intuitive) to adjust settings. Visit elinchrom.com for a deeper look into the flash’s specifications and features.

Available in a single or dual flash kits, the Elinchrom ONE comes with an OCF adapter for light modifiers, OCF diffusion dome, USB-C wall charger, USB-C cable, a case for the flash (or a backpack for the dual kit). Both come with a 2-year warranty and will be available in August for $949 and $1,899, respectively.
By the way, there’s a teaser that Elinchrom will be coming out with an Elinchrom FIVE in the spring of 2022. Can’t wait to see what they have in store for next year!
