Which photo and video equipment will go down in history? You decide, says MPB to photographers and other creatives. The world’s “largest online platform for used photography and videography equipment” is calling on the public to decide which kit [equipment] will be the best of the best across five categories in the MPB Photo & Video Kit Hall of Fame 2021 and each voter has the chance to win prizes, including a Hasselblad 500CM.

A committee of world-renowned photographers, journalists, and influencers have selected nominees in five categories: Classic, Game Changer, Iconic, Road Tested and Trendsetter.

Now in its second year, The Photo and Video Kit Hall of Fame honors the most exceptional equipment of the creative industry. According to MPB, last year’s Hall of Fame saw “40,000 kit lovers across 150 countries take part in the public vote, with trailblazing models such as DJI Mavic 2 Pro, Nikon D810, and Leica M3 securing a place in the Class of 2020.”

Below is the full list of categories, descriptions and nominees for The Photo and Video Kit Hall of Fame 2021:

• Classic: A Classic stands as a benchmark for quality in an ever-changing world of gear (perfect for anyone looking to get into photography).

The nominees: Canon 5D Mark III, Nikon D750, Sony A7RII, Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 L USM, Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS

• Game Changer: Game Changers disrupt the field by ushering in new technology, expanding product capabilities or making quality more accessible.

The nominees: DJI Mavic Pro II, Sony A7s, Sony Alpha A7, Nikon Z6, Sony A1

• Road Tested: The workhorses of kit, Road Tested gear is tried-and-true. From rainforests to runways, these nominees deliver time and again.

The nominees: Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Sony A7R III, Nikon D5, Nikon D850, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM

• Trendsetter: A Trendsetter shapes conversation about how it looks as well as the images it captures.

The nominees: Fujifilm X-Pro 3, Fujifilm X100V, Leica M10-R, Sony A7 III, Olympus PEN F

• Iconic: The crème de la crème of photo kit. Iconic cameras are the ones you idolize, symbols of quality and inspiration.

The nominees: Leica M6, Hasselblad 501C, Leica M10 Monochrom, Rolleiflex 2.8 FX, Nikon FM2

In addition to taking part in the ballot for the prestigious Class of 2021, voters can enter for a chance to win the 2020 “Iconic” inductee, the Hasselblad 500CM with Zeiss Planar C 80mm f2.8 Lens in excellent or better condition, plus a video consultation with an MPB expert. (There are also three runner-up prizes of £500).
