Hugh Whitaker’s quiet, gentle character lets him hone in on the many subtle moments. “Gentle looks, half smiles, soft touches—I watch people closely throughout the day and try to predict the moments before they happen,” he says. Whitaker uses a light hand in post-production and keeps his gear “super simple,” he says. “The less I can focus on my equipment, the more time I have to focus on the day. I absolutely love shooting film and Polaroids but I find digital an unrivaled tool at a wedding.”
