We travel to New England for this week’s wedding where Somerville, Mass.-based photographer Shane Godfrey captured the special day of the very adorable Natalie and Peter.
This wedding took place at the quaint Essex Conference Center & Retreat, where the Koi swim free and a rustic event hall is held up by wood beams. “The Essex Conference Center is one of my favorite places to shoot weddings in the Boston area because of it’s luscious greens and fantastic light,” Godfrey says.
The bride even wore her pink Converse to tromp around the grounds (respect).
I spotted Godfrey’s work on Twitter, and I immediately dug his understated style. “[Natalie and Peter] both expressed being a bit nervous in front of the camera (as most couples are) and enjoyed my documentary approach to wedding photography,” Godfrey says of the couple. “I felt like they let me into their lives for a brief time, but in that time we got to know each other extremely well and by the end of it they felt like old friends.”
Godfrey’s gear bag included a Canon 5D Mark III, the following lenses: 14mm F2.8L, 24mm F1.4IIL, 35mm F1.4L, 50mm F2.5 Macro, 50mm F1.4, 85mm F1.2L, 100mm F2.8L Macro, 135mm F2L, 70-200mm F2.8L and a Canon 600ex-rt flash. “I also shoot one large format 8 x 10″ photo of each of my wedding clients (pictured below),” Godfrey says.
