The Young Reader [Rf Photo of the Day]

When three-year-old Elijah came in to this photo studio, he was initially tagging along with his brother, Theo, who was getting his portraits taken for his six-month milestone. However, says photographer Amanda Abraham, to make the most of the day, “we added the whole family in the session for fun!”

For Elijah’s portrait, the Michigan-based photographer set up a stool, a wooden, rustic backdrop, and provided some fake glasses and several reading books from her collection of props. “Styling wise, I have a soft and neutral color scheme that is consistent in my work,” Abraham says, so she asked Elijah’s parents to choose an outfit with earthy colors, like this peach-colored shirt and the mustard-colored pants. As for the theme, reading was a great fit not only because it matched Elijah’s clothes and personality, but “at three years old, having an activity during the photo session really helps to create smiles and sweet moments.”
