Latvian couple Tom and Rebeka headed to Iceland for their elopement, tying the knot near the country’s famous black sand beach in the village of Vik. After the ceremony, they headed to the shore with photographer Lucija Rosane for what they’d hoped would be an intimate portrait session. But, “When we got there, there were so many tourists taking photos,” Rosane says. “It was disturbing the moody atmosphere we had hoped to capture with just Tom and Rebeka, but despite the situation, I tried to take photos with as few distractions as possible.”

Fortunately, the couple and photographer found a relatively secluded spot, and despite the distractions, Tom couldn’t keep his eyes off his new bride. Says Rosane, “My favorite part of this photo is how Tom is looking at his wife. For me, this picture seems to be so pure.”
