Vintage Vision

Boudoir photographer Jasmin Pickens of Sugar & Lace Studio was letting her creative spirit run free during this personal photo shoot. Shot in a vintage trailer hotel in Bisbee, Arizona, this image is from a series featuring a model that Pickens had never met before, but who had just the look she envisioned for this classic session.

The trailer didn’t provide much space to move around, but it did have plenty of windows to let in natural light and a well-placed mirror to make the room seem larger. Pickens (who recently emerged as the Grand Prize winner of Rangefinder‘s The Body competition) took advantage of all of those elements for this particular photo, and she also added a unique flare effect by holding a round chandelier glass crystal in front of her lens. “I shot from the hallway into the bedroom to get the natural light from all three windows, and I created the flare to reflect the light back,” she says. It was a creative endeavor with minimal resources but, adds Pickens, “my vision was to create something just like this photograph.”
