Taking in the View

California-based photographer Maya Lora took this couple to one of her favorite lookout spots at Yosemite National Park, Glacier Point, for a portrait session. While the location may appear remote, it’s actually a rather popular spot, Lora says, because it has a convenient parking lot at the start of the trail, “so you can park and walk maybe 100 yards to this lookout.”

While the photo shows the couple in a beautiful, serene and peaceful moment, it was actually a crowded area. “I had an assistant kindly ask people to move for a minute and do crowd control,” Lora says. Fortunately, this couple wasn’t bothered by the bustle and was able to enjoy the vista. “We were winding down on our session when they took a break to really take in the view,” the photographer explains. “I live to shoot these types of moments because it’s the real, sweet memory that they will cherish more than the posed ones.”
