Simple Yet Powerful Signage at a Black Lives Matter Rally

June 3, 2020

By Jacqueline Tobin

Documentary photographer Syed Yaqeen, who is based in New York City and Harrisburg, PA, has been out this week capturing peaceful protests such as this one as Black Lives Matter demonstrations continue all across the country in response to the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis.

Photographing in the South Bronx and all over Manhattan this week, Yaqeen—who also photographs fashion, portraits, and weddings—took this and other images while reporting that, “I’ve seeing all the destructions, burnings and looting. But there are also plenty of protestors who, while angry and frustrated, are also peaceful. I spent the day with a few hundred protestors with no major upsets. No issues to report.”
