Micro Weddings and a Moment Between Brides

Two weeks before the pandemic hit, Florida-based wedding photographers Vanessa + Johnny were just days away from signing the lease on a studio space. Then everything changed and they had to adapt, as did their wedding coverage. As time bore on, micro weddings have become a business staple for the photography duo as they cover much smaller, more intimate weddings like the one here of same-sex couple Nathalie and Francine.

“We were looking to expand on the commercial work that I do on the side and have a unique lifestyle studio to rent to other creatives. We had worked on the concept and design for months and were so excited,” explains Vanessa.

“We have appreciated the silver lining of spending enormous amounts of time with our son, Fox,” adds the husband-and-wife photo duo. “He is so happy to have us around all day long. From always being on the go to always being home with him, it’s been a nice change. We are also thankful that we did not commit financially to a space, after all.”

This image of brides Nathalie and Francine is from their micro wedding held at the Historic Walton House in Homestead, Florida. “There were only five guests in attendance during the ceremony,” Vanessa says. “This was a beautiful moment between brides in a beautiful venue. The rest of the time was spent exploring the grounds with the couple. The venue is on four acres and has a rich and colorful history.”

Now the pair has decided to only doing intimate weddings and elopements at the moment. “We will honor those that have rescheduled and hope for the best but any inquiries are being told that we are limiting the size of weddings we cover.”
