This week, we place the spotlight on painterly scenes, natural glows and magical moments that unfolded organically.

Annabelle Agnew took this image in Positano, Italy, and loves its painterly quality.

“It evokes a sense of timelessness,” she says. “I love photographs that make me pause and make me want to consider it beyond documentation.”

Also by Agnew, this painterly scene was captured during a wedding in Mont-Tremblant, Canada.

“This is a candid moment that feels contemplative and connected to something deeper, something that bonds us during celebration and union,” she explains. She typically uses a Fuji xT3 and xT4, as well as 16mm, 23mm, 35mm and 56mm lenses.

This image of couple Linnea and Ian was taken on their wedding day by Jonas Seaman.

“We were running late and we jetted out of the venue in downtown Seattle to get the last bits of light for portraits,” Seaman explains. “By this time it was already 9 p.m. and the sun had gone down. There was enough skylight to get this shot at 400 ISO. I love how soft everything gets at twilight. The lights of the cafe are glowing in the shot, but it’s not dark enough to register as nighttime. I didn’t ask Linnea and Ian to pose like this, but something had caught their attention and they both looked off to one side. It felt like a perfect moment.”

Wedding photographer Stanley Babb of Stanlo Photography says that with this image—taken in Hotel Mousai Puerto Vallarta, Mexico—he was able to capture the bride’s natural beauty on her wedding day.

“The natural glow on her face and in her eyes is captivating,” says Babb. To light the look, he used window light with a reflection underneath for fill light.

Khairidwan Nizam loves capturing beautiful moments, which is why he’s so drawn to photographing weddings. “Every single couple I work with has their own unique love story and I tell it, through documentary style photography that captures the joy of the day and the emotions of the couple’s family and friends.”

Here, he says, it was already midnight and the atmosphere was very calm and comfortable. “I asked the couple (Emma & Kenneth) to stand next to each other and take a moment to enjoy the view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At that time we felt very calm and very humble. To be honest, we would have loved to stay there to enjoy this view until dawn. After a while they looked at each other and smiled together. At that time, I pressed the shutter’s button camera to make them remember this moment.”
