As much as I strive for strong compositions, I also love candid shots of real moments that tell the story of a wedding day best. Let’s take this photograph for example: You can see the beautiful bride Anna next to her mum and her beloved friends, all laughing like crazy. I really like this shot because of the positive emotion it evokes when looking at it while unavoidably asking, what the hell are they actually laughing about? And I will tell you what it was.

Anna and Marc were celebrating their wedding in an industrial environment, and I wanted to show this industrial feeling during the couple’s session. What we didn’t know and couldn’t imagine was that we spontaneously got access to an old industrial building that was absolutely unique but totally full of dust and soot. Anna completely ruined her gorgeous dress on the bottom while moving along the dirty floors. She didn’t really care about it. Looking back at the photograph here, you can see what happened when Anna presented her wedding dress to family and friends right after we were done with the couple’s shoot.
