Photos of the Week
It was a fun hiking and camping day in Shenandoah National Park in Virginia for photographer Eastlyn Bright Tolle, her husband, and her sister Mackenzie (pictured). The trio awoke before dawn and began their ascent up the boulders on the Bearfence Mountain trail. At the top of the climb, Eastlyn took out her camera for a quick portrait session. “The harsh and cold wind painfully blew against our faces,” she recalls, “but the beauty of its wild movement complemented not only our eccentric artisan hearts, but life’s perfect symmetry.”
Eastlyn processed the photo in Adobe Lightroom and applied a custom preset. She then shifted positive orange, red and yellow luminance to bring out Mackenzie’s skin tones, and reduced some of the shadows and highlights. Lastly, she decreased clarity “to make the edges soft,” but she also sharpened it slightly and added some grain for texture.
