Boudoir photographer Marco Ibanez was working on a personal project called “Intimate Spaces” when he made this portrait. The series captures subjects in the comfort of their own homes, and this particular image won first place in the Amateur Boudoir category in The Body photo contest (presented by Rf and PDN).
Ibanez, who has been shooting professionally for close to three years, says the series is a way for him to bring out more character and personality from his subjects. “Most of my work with clients are made at hotels, which I find extremely impersonal,” Ibanez says. So for this shoot, he worked at the subject’s own home where simple elements—like her friendly cat—helped keep the mood light and fun. “This, I am sure, made her feel more relaxed and happier than if we were shooting at a cold hotel room,” he notes. The photographer used the window as a light source and then gave the subject “precise direction on how to move her body, from the top of her head to the tip of her toes.”
(Shot using a Canon 5D Mark III with a 50mm f/1.4 lens.)
