For Sebastien Bicard‘s last session of 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, he photographed couple Kai and Jem, who are from Singapore, for a pre-wedding session at Bodega Bay in California. But it wasn’t their first choice and they had to try and adjust to the last-minute location change.

“They were supposed to go to Hawaii and Paris after a few months of work in San Francisco,” Bicard explains, “but the global pandemic forced them to a last-minute location shoot change, schedule and plans. Despite that, they kept a huge smile on their face all day long. We met at 10 a.m. on the coast and kissed goodbye after the sun set many hours later.”

The couple was understandably “bummed out” about the shoot they they didn’t get to have in Paris, but, the photographer adds, “they were on a high at the end of the day after creating memories together here.”

“Let this set a moment and serve us all as a positive lesson for our future,” says Bicard. “Brighter days will come.”
