Eric Ronald photographed this moment of the newlyweds-to-be just after their first look. “There was anticipation in the air with their wedding ceremony just about to commence,” Ronald says, and he wanted to encapsulate that feeling in a photo that would also represent the journey they’re about to embark on together as a couple. “That, and we had a few moments to spare as we waited for the elevator!” the photographer adds.

Ronald knew that the exposure needed to be perfectly balanced between details in the highlights and shadows. “I also chose to stop down to increase my depth-of-field to maintain detail all the way from foreground to background,” he explains. “When taking the photo, I also noticed the light fixture on the ceiling, which I then incorporated into the framing of the image,” and adds somewhat to the futuristic feel.
