Exciting news: Canon has officially revealed the full details on their latest flagship DSLR, the $6,499 EOS-1D X Mark III camera. It will replace the Canon EOS-1 D X Mark II, priced at $5,999 on launch.
With a new 20.1-megapixel CMOS sensor and redesigned “High Detail Low-Pass Filter” for heightened sharpness, there are two new processors. One is dedicated entirely to AF/AE functions.

Previously, autofocus in the EOS-1 D X Mark II topped off at 14 fps via the optical viewfinder and 16 fps during Live View. These numbers have been increased to 16 fps and 20 fps, respectively.
Canon has also expanded ISO capabilities to a groundbreaking light sensitivity range of ISO 50 to ISO 819,200. The buffer in the camera will also support a burst of roughly 1,000 images, including simultaneous RAW and JPEG.
Face-Priority E-TTL II metering automatically adjusts appropriate output of an external flash when it detects a face. Other face tracking has also been added from an AI database of deep learning.

A Digital Lens Optimizer has been added that will utilize a library of lens corrections which Canon says improves the overall resolution of the image.
For video, the EOS-1 DX Mark III will have the best set of video features available to a still camera, as well. It has received Canon’s touchscreen Dual Pixel CMOS AF that can focus in low light down to -6EV.
With 4K video resolution at up to 60fps, it will capture high quality 10-bit files at 4:2:2 color compression in up to 5.5K RAW internally. Most systems require an external digital recorder for those numbers.

To support such large files, the camera has moved from one CompactFlash card and one CFexpress to Dual CFexpress card slots.
The camera will have built-in WiFi and Bluetooth plus GPS for uploading imagery directly from an event through FTP servers, Canon’s EOS Utility transfer service and compatible remote browsers.

A $649 WFT-E9 wireless file transmitter was also announced that provides enhanced and more secure wireless connectivity.
