Must-Have External SSDs for Photographers

Every photographer eventually learns the importance of backing up their work. Between our mushrooming megapixels and ultra high-resolution video, finding the right storage solution for your digital archive has never been more important. For photographers working on location, portable hard drives provide instant back-up in a compact, durable form factor. Thanks to falling prices on flash memory, external SSD drives have become particularly popular. Lighter in weight than a traditional hard disc drive, external SSDs make an ideal travel companion. Beyond their lighter, slimmer build, external SSDs are also much faster, so that files will transfer over to an SSD in a significantly shorter time than they would with a traditional hard disc drive. Finally, because there are no moving parts, SSDs can withstand more bumps and shocks without the risk of losing their contents to drive failure. A lack of moving parts also improves battery life, which is always a plus when working on the road and out of easy reach of an AC outlet.

RAID Drives Reviews

For photographers and filmmakers dealing with a huge library of high-resolution files, the best way to properly manage them is using a RAID drive. For filmmakers, only a RAID drive will provide the transfer speeds necessary to edit ultra high resolution, 4K video files. For photographers, RAID drives ensure that they will be able to protect files while simultaneously improving their editing workflow. Rangefinder offers extensive coverage of RAID drive options for photographers and filmmakers from all of the leading hard drive manufacturers.
