Liam Warton
Liam Warton’s style is tricky to define. It’s artistic and experimental with an analogue feel, “oversaturated in emotion,” he says, while remaining firmly planted in the candid documentary genre of photography. What inspires him as he photographs is not the end result but rather the process of making the photos, which is why he often shoots on film. Cycling through Olympus, Contax, Yashica, Mamiya, Fuji and Leica cameras, Warton doesn’t feel tied to any single brand, nor does he feel the need to have the latest and greatest in gear. “The longer I shoot, the more I realize that it doesn’t really matter what camera you use,” he says.
Warton cares much more about his couples’ experience with him. He credits his career as a user-experience designer for his drive to add value where he can. “I feel that photography is secondary to giving the service that sets you apart in this business,” says Warton. Still, weddings pull him in because to him, “there is something beautiful in capturing something that is fleeting and before it’s lost into the chaos.”
