Styled Shoot From Home: Bridal Boutique with Family

August 3, 2020

Photographer Mo Davis very cleverly set up and photographed a styled shoot for a bridal boutique, Ivory & White, using only elements that were close to home: the model is her cousin, the venue is her house and the light is all natural, thanks to a big window.

Davis positioned her cousin so that she’d be sitting right by direct sunlight as it poured through the window, so she knew she’d need a low ISO to accommodate the brightness. “I knew that I wanted that particular shot a little overexposed because I wanted to focus less on the dress and more on the hat—it was a personal choice for a few shots because I’m a Goorin Brothers fanatic!” adds Davis, referring to the hat maker.

As it were, the sunlight was perhaps a bit too strong, but Davis had a quick fix that elevated the bridal look: “I noticed the highlights on her face from the exposure so I decided to add the veil to cover it.”
