Photos of the Week
The period after the ceremony and before the reception is a key time period for wedding photographers to capture their couples. Having freshly exchanged vows, emotions are running high, adrenaline is pumping, and with the anticipation of good food and even better dancing to come, the newlyweds can take a breath and relax. So what do wedding photographers do with this time? Two weeks ago, a photographer asked the couple to have a “secret first dance” as they were shooting sunset portraits, shaking off the nerves. In the case of this wedding, documented by Florida-based photographer ericaJ, the couple didn’t seem to have any nerves to speak of—before joining together for their first dance, they decided to throw down in a lip sync battle.
“The couple did a lip sync battle rap to a Drake montage upon entering into their reception before going into their first dance,” says ericaJ, who had set up two off-camera flashes to light the scene. “This moment took place during one of bride’s rounds, after she had delivered her lines, and took a moment to dance to the beat.”
