A Special Kiss Between a Bride and her Grandmother

July 13, 2020

By Jacqueline Tobin

Liverpool wedding photographer Ste Walker says he was shooting a destination wedding in southern France when he took this image of a special, emotional moment between the bride and her grandmother.

The wedding venue was Domaine Des Bruguières, about a 2-hour drive north west of Nice and really out in the middle of nowhere, according to Walker.

“Cherry, the bride, had booked me to fly over and shoot her destination wedding to her now husband Thomas who is French. They had a really nice festival theme to their wedding and although it’s quite a spread out wedding venue, it has a really homey and intimate feel.”

During the outdoor wedding ceremony, Thomas and Cherry’s wedding guests looked on as they said their self written vows to each other; then guest speakers added their own thoughts as the day continued on under “a beautiful sunny sky.”

Once the ceremony was over and they had finished their procession, all of the guests left their seats and headed toward the couple to hug, kiss and congratulate them.

“The couple had not yet noticed Cherry’s grandmother down near the front of the seating,” Walker explains. “As soon as Cherry saw she was seated alone near the front, Cherry hurried past everyone like someone late running for a plane and I ran with her. I had to quickly climb over some chairs to get close. She gave her grandma a huge kiss on the head and they had a really special moment together.”

Adds Walker: “I sure hope that Cherry can relive exactly how she felt during this moment every time she looks at this photo. That’s my goal with all my work, really, to allow all of my couples to almost feel exactly how they felt during the best moments of their wedding with my intimate wedding photography.”
