Last fall at the New York Botanical Garden, Amy Sims, a wedding photographer based in New York, revisited a spot with the newlyweds that they had stumbled upon together during their engagement session much earlier. It was off the beaten path, and despite being ready to pack it in, they took the time to take some portraits (one of which can be seen below).

“When their wedding day came, I knew that we’d have to find that spot again,” Sims says. “What I couldn’t have planned for was just how incredible the light would be. When we got to this spot, the sun was peeking over the hill and through the trees, creating this perfect natural spotlight where I placed the couple.”

Sims whipped out her 45mm tilt-shift lens to emphasize the dreaminess of a “fairy-like wedding in the forest,” she explains. “It feels so secluded, especially for New York, and is a celebration of the serenity found in open spaces.”
