NYC Fashion Photographer Gives Back with Fine-Art Prints
May 6, 2020
Fashion and beauty photographer Andrew Day, who sold everything he owned just to cover a flight to iconic New York City when he was first starting out, remembers his last day of work before we all entered into a COVID-19 “global meltdown”—February 12th, 2020.
“I had just wrapped shooting beauty for Maybelline with Michael Kors,” Day recalls, “and I remember leaving the set and having a weird feeling about the rising concern of coronavirus and looking forward to being isolated at home. I had plenty of large shoots on the books for the rest of February and most of March.” One by one, though, Day says they ended up all being delayed and eventually canceled.

With what seemed like no work on the horizon and looking for ways to give back to the city he loves most, Day launched a fine-art print initiative, A Piece of New York City, to give back to New York City’s COVID-19 Relief Efforts, with 20 percent of the profits going to NYU Langone hospital.
“This is a creative way that I can help others and give an exchange with a piece of New York in return. My wish is to share the spirit and hope of NewYork City that is in all of us here.”
“Our initial goal was to raise $5,000,” says Day, “but we are confident we can go far past that. Prints of New York City for COVID-19 relief can be ordered here.
