Photographer Seth Sanker of Seth & Co, a trio based in Southern California, often notices the loving way that couples look at each other, but as the wedding and portrait photographer, he’s always just outside that moment.

“I always find myself looking through images and saying, ‘Oh my gosh, I love the way she’s looking at him,’ and I wanted to capture that look,” Sanker says.

So he decided to go for it, asking this couple to sit facing one another. He had them lock eyes for a moment. Then, Sanker placed his camera near the man’s chin, “and I told her to look at the camera the way she was looking into his eyes,” he explains. “And then I had him caress her face. It helped give perspective to what was happening in the image.”
