Many wedding couples who come from different backgrounds often have two (or even more) celebrations—one in their own country and another where they currently reside or where their partner is from. This gave photographer Mari Harsan the opportunity to create a cool double exposure for one of couple Nalini and Nishant’s wedding portraits.

This image was taken on Nalini and Nishant’s reception day in the U.S.; their main wedding was in India.

“I took this double exposure at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.,” says Harsan. “The groom, Nishant, and his father are very passionate about photography and love my work. I already had a connection with them because a few years back I had photographed Nishant’s brother’s wedding, so they trusted me when I wanted to make sure to create something a bit different and unique for them.”
