Staying Creative

Taken in New Orleans, Louisiana, about an hour prior to sunset, the inspiration for this image by photographer Sophie Berard was the color red. “I reached out to the lovely women of @luna.raae—both redheads with exquisite taste, as seen on their Instagram page of curated vintage garments—and asked them if they were up to shoot. Humble Haberdasher provided the headwear, which quickly became a favorite accessory of mine to play with during the shoot.”

Berard says Alex and Raae took the inspiration given and put their own twist on things. “The headwear was not the focal point of the shoot but a fun addition since Raae’s partner creates headwear locally,” she explains. “Overall this shoot was for play, since over the summer I took a break from digital photography and opened up my time to doing smaller, film-only shoots with women creatives around town who are making a difference in our community, through their work and art. This was a way for me to decompress from wedding season while still making time to create in a way that promotes excitement and growth.”
