Photokina 2018: There’s a New Color Paper from Fujifilm

As technologies go, the silver halide photographic paper used in prints, photo books and more is fairly mature, so it was quite surprising to see Fujifilm introduce a brand new, high-end photo paper at Photokina.

According to Fujifilm, the new Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Maxima silver halide paper delivers a 40 percent increase in longevity compared to current professional-grade photo papers (when exposed using Xenon light).

It also delivers a higher D-max (+ 0.3) and a 10 percent improvement in color gamut versus existing papers.

The paper will be available in both glossy and matte surfaces. Sizes will range from 15 to 50 inches. The Fujicolor Crystal Archive Professional Paper Maxima should be trickling out to a photo lab near you in the coming months. European print provider WhiteWall, for instance, is already offering prints on the paper.
