Photos of the Week
In some Indian weddings, it is tradition for the groom to go back to the bride’s parents’ house after the ceremony. That’s what this groom did, but once he got there, the bridesmaids were blockading the door. “They had some fun questions for him and wanted to play some little games before he was allowed into the house,” Canada-based photographer Jayme Lang recalls. “And just when he thought he was going to be allowed in, the bridesmaids pulled out the silly string and sprayed him!”
It was a small doorway and there was a large crowd, Lang says, so finding a spot to shoot from was a bit of a challenge. “The family was also moving around and trying to take photos of their own, so I got pushed to the side quite a bit. It took determination to get in there and create these shots. I had a couple elbows in my back.” But her effort was certainly worthwhile to capture this moment with her own camera. “I love the pops of pink. The color just grabs me right away, and I love how his nose is all scrunched up as the silly string hits his face. The whole experience was so fun, and this frame captures the surprise of the moment.”
