Photographer Mic Panic was on vacation with his girlfriend when they stumbled upon this well-manicured field of flowers in Southern Germany. “As soon as I saw it, I had this idea for a picture,” Panic recalls.

The photographer pointed the camera toward himself and his girlfriend and set the timer. “We tried some funny poses and some more serious poses,” he says.

It took some trial and error to get the settings just right, but ultimately, Panic is pleased with the results. Not only do the images carry personal meaning for him, they also presented a creative challenge, he says: “I really wanted to have the horizon line in the picture to create a nice tripartition.”
