Photos of the Week
“2017 was a perfect year to me,” says Portugal photographer Jesus Caballero. “Step by step, I was achieving the goals of new locations, new venues and fresh inspiration from and to my weddings.” A warehouse wedding had been on his bucket list to photography, and it had eluded Caballero until last year, when it finally presented itself in the form of “a couple from California who was crazy in love, with an industrial wedding at the LX Factory in Lisbon. A live jazz band, Leonard Cohen lyrics, poems at a big library and street art were all there too, and I wanted to capture those for the portraits.”
Spotting one mural in particular (called “The Eagle Has Landed Part II,” by conceptual satirists who go by the name Hygenic Dress League), the groom, noting the similarity in his suit to the eagle’s, asked Caballero to take a photo of him standing in front of the work of art. “With the old vintage car and the satirical anti-capitalism street art as background,” the photographer muses, “it was a nice combination.”
