Some people say that rain on the wedding day is a sign of good luck. For this bride and her bridesmaids, the stormy forecast in Fort Valley, Georgia, was also a key component to creating some beautiful portraits.

“My absolute favorite part about this photo is how raw it feels,” notes photographer Ashlyn Cathey of Ashlyn Cathey Photography. Because of the soggy grounds, some bridesmaids stripped down to their bare feet and embraced their rain-stained dresses, she notes. The overcast skies also added to the beauty of the moment. “The lights and party in the background give a laid-back, fun feeling to the already beautiful bride and her bridesmaids,” Cathey says. Plus, “The cool color of the bridesmaid dresses mixed with the warm glow from the barn corresponds to the colors of the bridesmaid’s bouquets…just so magical!”
