Photos of the Week
There was nothing particularly inspiring about this location, according to UK-based photographer David West, but he was able to turn this ordinary spot into something magical with a little luck and good lighting.
Captured just outside of Healey Barn in Northumberland, England, West says this location is actually a piece of scrubland, and the bride and groom are standing on worn out asphalt. But one simple Speedlite placed directly behind the couple, a low angle, good timing and a circular piece of glass to create the “ring of fire” effect was all that it took to make it look like the couple was in a remote area with an epic sunset just behind them.
Says West, “There are many aspects I like about this photo, but the way that the light reflects off the groom’s face and lights the bride is really quite magical.”
(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark III with a Canon 24-70mm L f/2.8 lens and a Godox V8602II Speedlite.)
