Katch Silva’s studies in psychology wound up coming in handy in wedding photography; her understanding of people’s interactions, personalities and emotions is invaluable. At the same time, she stays out of the wedding party’s hair—more than once, brides have told her that she was “like a ninja,” being everywhere without being seen and catching moments thought to have happened without witness. A big nature lover with a hankering for adventure, Silva is all about shooting for mood. “I’ll sacrifice focus, exposure, depth of field, composition, etc. if I need to in order to capture the mood,” she says. “My shooting and editing style both work together toward that goal.”
