Kristen Marie Parker had been studying for nursing school and working in hospice care when she took a break to pursue some work in Southeast Asia. “I brought along a low-entry camera to take images of my day-to-day while in Cambodia, and some other couples who were getting married around that time took me on as their photographer,” she explains. “When I came back, I wrestled with a few other jobs and trying to choose the right career path, ultimately pushing to see if I could somehow make photography work and if I could develop it into a way of expressing my curiosity and trust with people. I yearn to document genuine and raw moments between individuals, even if it’s full of joy and even if it’s messy.”
