“This cool couple contacted me to have a portrait session with a mix of modern and traditional Chinese costume,” explains Lisbon, Portugal-based wedding photographer Jesús Caballero. “I was thinking about doing some portraits against a backdrop of tiled walls in the Alfama district in Lisbon, but as we were walking over, the heavy rain began, which, then again, wasn’t the worst thing, because Lisbon these days is one of the most visited cities. So thanks to the rain, we had all the streets to ourselves.”

Sometimes Caballero likes to rely on his “old Canon 5DII” with the preview on in Black and White. “It’s part of my inspiration and I like to use it more when the couple and the location have a great combination,” he says. “I knew these portraits would be striking because the combination of the couple, the tiles and the heavy, soft light under the rain was perfection. I am always looking for different parts of the city to find unique, interesting backgrounds. Those are the locations that inspire me and give me the opportunity to photograph my couples in beautiful but simple ways.”
