Budapest, Hungary-based camera company Dora Goodman sells both pre-assembled and DIY kit cameras. The Adams Edition 6x12 panoramic camera is 3D-printed, accented with a rosewood veneer and weighs a little over 2 lbs.

Medium-format panoramic cameras tend to be heavy and bulky, but the Goodman Zone 6×12 Adams Edition is both lightweight and handcrafted. The latest camera from the Budapest, Hungary-based artisan team at Dora Goodman Cameras, the Adams Edition is a 3D-printed camera accented with a rosewood veneer.

Established in 2016 by the company’s namesake, Dora Goodman, they sell both DIY camera kits for the craftier photographer as well as pre-assembled film cameras. The Goodman Zone 6×12 Adams Edition, however, is one of the company’s few limited-edition cameras that ships fully assembled with a lens. While it uses parts of Goodman Zone DIY kits, the Adams camera has custom paint as well as a palisander or rosewood inlay. It also comes with a Schneider 90mm f/8 lens and 6×12 film back.

Processed with VSCO with c6 preset.

Goodman says the camera is inspired by Harriet Chalmers Adams, an explorer that traveled so widely in a time before women’s suffrage that she was the third American woman to be invited to England’s Royal Geographic Society. Along with her extensive excursions, she was known for her photojournalism and was the most published woman in National Geographic’s first 50 years.

Dora Goodman and her team are becoming known for their lightweight medium-format and pinhole cameras. The company designs their own camera bodies, then shares the designs as Open Source files, ready-to-assemble kits for those without a 3D printer, or already assembled creations.

Besides the custom options, the 3D-printed design allows the cameras to weigh considerably less. The Goodman Zone 6×12 Adams Edition, for example, weighs 2.27 pounds with the lens attached. Medium-format cameras like the Technorama weigh nearly twice that, the company notes.

The Goodman Zone is a modular DIY kit camera. The company currently offers kits for a 6×7 ($680) and a 6×12 ($162) model. The modular system has several accessory options, from grips and pinhole boards to flash and smartphone holders.

If you want the Adams edition, however, there’s only one available ($1,450) from Dora Goodman Cameras.
