ACD Systems, the maker of image software that includes ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate, Photo Editor 11 and Luxea Video Editor 6, has launched a free beta version of its all-new editing software, Gemstone Photo Editor 12.

The new standalone multi-document interface, says the company, is a photography editing software with a layered editor and up-to-date RAW support, similar in concept to Photoshop.

Along with a host of exciting new features, Gemstone will incorporate many of the popular features from ACDSee’s other software, including: 
·   Light EQ
·   Frequency Separation 
·   Path text
·   Pixel Targeting  
·   Color Wheels  
·   Tone wheels
·   Liquify Tool

Beta testing began on June 30th with the goal of gaining the photography community’s feedback and support. The official launch of Gemstone takes place this coming autumn.

“We are expecting tens of thousands of users to try Gemstone Photo Editor 12 and provide input,” says ACDSee COO and CTO Frank Lin. “Gemstone is complete with a multi-document interface, a layered editor, and RAW support. We are excited to share what we have built so far, and what is to come.”

Photographers are encouraged to provide feedback on any of the features, including:

· Full RAW development support: Built-in RAW image support for over 500 camera models.

· MDI interface: Have multiple documents open at once as well as easily providing a split view.

· Full layered editor: Achieve complex adjustments and effects and go back to tweak them at any time.

To run Gemstone, you must be using Windows and have an Intel or AMD processor with 64-bit support. Four GB of RAM is required, although 8GB is recommended. You must also have a DirectX 10 compatible graphics adapter. For the full list of system requirements, visit the Gemstone product page.
